Using the resources of his agency...plus some logical deduction, Dan suspects the caller to be Lester Powers, high priced accountant who is making some legitimate investments with Barr's illegal money. Dan's right. The intended victim is crime fighting State Senator Day, who is setting up a Crime Commission with Johnny Barr as principle target. Dan wants Barr on attempted murder. Senator makes his scheduled trip to the city...his safety in the hands of Dan. Dan successfully delivers Day to his destination. With a strong case against Barr, Dan now arrests him and assures him that the Crime Commission is already in session and Barr is number one on the agenda.

When the cars reach their destination, the H is collected and distributed by local pushers. Efforts to trace the happy dust back to its main source of supply lead Dan Mathews and Narcotics Agent, Ed Coleman to the fashionable resort hotel, Lakeview Lodge. When their undercover work at the Lodge fails, Dan and Ed must resort to less subtle methods -- including a fast bout with a can-opener -- to locate the evidence that incriminates and de-activates the dope ring.

Girl Bandit: A bank messenger, Frank Douglas, at his wife Louise's instigation, absconds with a large sum of money, brings it home, where he arrives earlier than expected and overhears the wife planning to double-cross him and run off with the money and another man, Paul Lawson, a truck driver. He confronts them, is slugged but gets away. Later, he is picked up by the Highway Patrol while driving erratically and is sent to a hospital, where he lies in a coma. Mathews discovers the messenger had made plans to leave the country, obviously having stolen the money. Douglas' wife is missing. He reasons she is making off with the money. Dan pursues her but is always a step behind. He does catch her, recovers the money and sends her and her accomplice to jail.

Mountain Copter: In their remote, isolated mountain cabin, Walt and Freda Hollis find an injured man --fever-ridden, hungry, armed with a gun. While Freda tries to make the stranger more comfortable, Walt reports the situation to the nearby ranger station. The ranger radios the Highway patrol, learns the man is Mickey Demarest -- a frightened young hood-lump who is running away from a murder he did not commit. Dan Mathews takes the HP helicopter to the area, discovers that the panicky Demarest has overpowered Freda, wounded Walt Hollis, and escaped. Dan's deductive powers, the ranger's knowledge of the wilderness, and the copter's mechanical facility are too much for Demarest. But once having cornered his man, Dan is forced to gamble his own insight and knowledge of human nature against Demarest's desperation.
